Full-Time Detox EMT

Job Description

This position will be based at a new Detox facility in Gallup, NM with an anticipated start date of December 1, 2020.

We are seeking to hire a confident and enthusiastic EMT who can provide care to clients during their acute stages of
detoxification. The EMT is responsible for providing a wide range of interventions and support techniques. Duties include and are not
limited to the administration of various medications including intravenous solutions, monitoring of vitals and progress of
detoxification. The EMT will work closely and under the supervision of a nurse and physician. To ensure success, you must possess
the ability to make judicious decisions, be knowledgeable and have outstanding people skills.

Works one on one with multiple medical providers (nurse, physicians, physician assistant, nurse practitioner)
1. Works along with medical technicians
2. Assess potential clients and deem as an appropriate candidate for the detox treatment program, particularly referrals made.
3. Conducts BAC and observed urine drug screens as requested and necessary per protocol
4. Monitors client vitals as necessary and as requested by medical providers
5. Performs other duties in accordance with facility policies and procedures
6. Assists clients with administration of medications according to medical orders; responsible for creating and documenting as
appropriate on MAR sheets
7. Assists with admission and orientation of new clients admitted to the facility
8. Completes rounds every 15 – 30 minutes on all shifts
9. Monitors client chores and laundry according to daily schedule
10. Performs count of medications each shift per established procedures
11. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with State and Federal law, the code of ethics and facility policies and procedures
12. Participates in regular chart reviews and other Quality Assurance processes
13. Completes admission, interdisciplinary and discharge notes based on daily encounters
14. Ensures oversight of linens and other program supplies; inventory, dispense, and maintain linen and towels, and ensure clients sign out
and return linens as instructed
15. Attends seminars and workshops as necessary to ensure compliance and fidelity with new and existing evidence-based modalities and
treatment approaches utilized by facility
16. Provides coordination, availability, and full participation in all aspects of any programmatic review, survey, site visits and/or program
17. Understands and maintains HIPAA and 42CFR Part 2 confidentiality standards relative to facility
18. Performs and/or coordinates other special assignments and tasks, as required, by medical providers
19. Complete Incident Report forms prior to the end of a shift if applicable
20. Transport clients in accordance with facility policies and procedures
21. Provide basic life support if necessary
22. Maintains professionalism with clients at all times and must never have personal relationships with any clients

• Substance abuse treatment experience
• Skilled in preparing, maintaining, and overseeing patient records
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency or crisis situations
• Ability to maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards
• Computer experience, knowledge of or demonstrated ability to learn Access, Word, and electronic medical records (EMR-Bear)
• Ability to solve unexpected problems as they arise while considering liability, precedence, programmatic implications and other
possible future impacts on the program, services, or organization
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders
• Must be able to handle a large caseload of medication management for clients
