Full-Time Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant will have a key role in providing support, to ensure the efficient operation of the medical practice. Assist Physician, Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner in providing quality care to patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.
Obtain & accurately document patient vital signs, weight, take a brief history, past medical, family and social history, current medications, allergies and other pertinent historical information as appropriate.
Maintain patient flow after check in. Consistently communicate with patients as needed.
Prepare orders and referrals as indicated in the Physician’s Care Plan.
Call patients for test results as indicated by Physician, and communicate with other providers to coordinate patient care.
Address patients’ calls and messages daily, and in a timely manner.
Follow documentation procedures and complete required paperwork related to the patient visit.
Obtain appropriate consents forms.
Maintain medical supply inventory, vaccines, & medications.
Adhere to safety guidelines and patient confidentiality policies.
Maintain examination rooms clean and presentable, and re-stock supplies as necessary.
Ability to relay information in a positive manner, to calm upset patients and present a solution to their problems.
Assist with check-in/out procedures, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, billing, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
Where applicable, perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification and MA certification.
Previous working experience as a Medical Assistant and/or in a healthcare setting that included a direct patient contract.
Clean and professional appearance.
Social perceptiveness and service oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent clinical and time management skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software (knowledge of EHR).
Ability to work efficiently in a team or solo environment.
