Full-Time Physician, MD
The City of Houston Health Department is seeking a Physician, MD to perform various medical services in preventative medicine throughout the community!
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides professional patient medical care and services, including consultative services, preventative medicine, disease control and record keeping. Interviews, examines, diagnoses and treats patients using professional medical procedures. Counsels patients and advises on health education, i.e. diet, hygiene and preventive measures. Coordinates patient care, follow-up and/or referral with internal staff and external medical facilities. Conducts chart reviews and participates in medical care quality assurance. Maintains accurate and current records; participates in quality improvement activities. Maintains professional licensure and keeps abreast of recent medical field (Public Health) developments.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The position is physically comfortable, the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Medical Doctor’s degree from an American Medical Association accredited medical school.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Two years of experience as a practicing physician in the United States are required.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Requires a license to practice medicine in the State of Texas within six months of the time of hire.A valid Texas driver’s license and compliance with the City of Houston’s policy on driving is required (AP 2-2).
PREFERENCES: Prefer candidates with two to three years of Public Health Experience and two to three years working with Electronic Health Records (EPIC).
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
Salary: $124,800.00 to $145,600.00 /year
GENERAL FUND POSITION
Grants & Special funded positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate’s qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
